COMMUNITY MUSIC SCHOOL - MINIZICIANS

As the creator of Minizicians, my goal is to offer children between the ages of 2 and 5 a variety of original and familiar songs, instruments, and ideas, to find those hidden talents and musical expressions that become part of us forever.  Music is a beautiful language that nurtures and teaches us all a different form of communication.  When children have an opportunity and an environment in which their creative minds are challenged, coupled with an experience they share with a parent or loved one, it creates a bond that can only strengthen and will last a lifetime.  Children sing, dance, and play while they learn different musical techniques, styles, and songs.  We practice sharing, taking turns, listening, and pretending, in various activities using music and instruments as stimuli. The growth, awareness, and enjoyment for each child are magical and create a solid foundation to build on for years to come.

Minizicians

With a variety of age appropriate percussive and melodic instruments, children will learn the basics of music by watching, listening, imitating, and participating as their imaginations are challenged.  This course is designed to enhance the awareness of parents and children by introducing simple melodies, original songs, familiar tempos and the beginning dynamics of music we are surrounded by each day.  Just by discovering loud/soft, high/low, and fast/slow, with an assortment of other musical combinations, children’s creativity begins to blossom.  Each family will receive a CD of the original Minizicians songs, some of which are used in class in conjunction with dancing, play acting, and singing.  The mind of a child is so impressionable, and sharing this experience, both grown ups and children create a unique bond with music as the connection.

MINIZICIANS II

Children with an appetite for expanding their musical vocabulary will benefit by learning new skills in various ways.  The musical building blocks and tools learned in Minizicians II will improve their confidence, sharpen their senses, and expose their minds as they experiment and perfect their individual talents.  An extension of Minizicians I, this class will involve more details by carefully introducing visual and written musical language.  Children quickly understand how music really works without even trying.  They will begin identifying and understanding notes as well as basic symbols used in music notation.  Studies show, music instruction at an early age clearly augments the development of such young receptive minds. This course offers children an opportunity to openly and structurally play with different instruments in a wonderful musical environment, and is sure to boost the enthusiasm of our future musicians!

ADVANCED MINIZICIANS

Children, beginning at the age of 4, who exhibit a natural enthusiasm to learn more, would benefit from this introduction to specific melodic and rhythmic instruction.  Beginning with piano, guitar, and percussion, the children take turns on each instrument, learning how they are played, and what they sound like.  The children develop their ears by listening, identifying, and describing their experiences.  They learn the different ways in which instruments can be combined to create different styles and sounds of music.  They experiment, discovering and sharing new ideas with the other children.  Advanced Minizicians is a natural step toward a rewarding musical education.
